Malacca International Motorsports Circuit, a brilliant circuit which combines various type of tight corners. Known as the largest go kart circuit in south east asia, it have been selected for the next spot for Good Year international drift series for 2010 on 31st of July and 1st of August. As a go kart circuit, the width of the track itself is quite small in some area resulting a very technical track for drifting. Click here for full reports

Rattlezasia @ Siri Drift KBS Zon Selatan 2010

Program Siri Drift KBS Zon Selatan 2010

The event is organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Motorsports Division and co-organized by JB Drift Club. This special workshop is held in Suria Hotel, Johor Baharu for two day and one night. All the participating members that attend the workshop are by invitation only. Members from all over the southern region state like Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Johor took part. This workshop taught basic theory of drifting as well as practical where participant actually given the chance to drift a car under the supervision of a drift instructor.

Team rattlezasia® represent the Muar district have Chop, Ijat and Isz as our representative. Overall and it is a new experience for us and we greatly enjoy ourself attending the workshop even thou it is a basic training. But still we are learning something new and it is very satisfying. There’s no league as newbie, beginner, amateur or a professional drifter to attend a basic drift workshop like these as we believed that learning process will never end, it’s just up to you how u see things around you.

Last but not least, we hope that with these experiences and knowledge, if one day we were appointed to do this kind of workshop we’ll be ready! Cheers.

Report: Karnival Sorakan 1 Dunia 1 Malaysia Bersempena Ulangtahun RTM Ke-64.

On last weekend the carnival was held successfully at the mini car park of Angkasapuri. We were there the night before the event for the track layout set up. Since the car park space is not so big (around 50 x 80 meters), initially we thought we could only do donut and figure 8 layout. Please bear in mind that that event was not a competition, but a demonstration. However, one of our friend, Eddy (thanks bro!) came out with an idea of an R overlap layout --1st gear, 2nd gear and instant drift initiate where the drifters need to be fast enough since the 1/2 feet divider is waiting up front, huhu. After we were satisfied with the layout off we went home to get some rest because the opening ceremony was held on Saturday early morning.

The next day as early as 6.45am we headed to Angkasapuri back. The crowd has already fulfilled the main stage a little bit away from the track. A few test run were performed while waiting for other friends to arrive. There were few attractions around the track like F&B booth, biker booth, autoshow, I.C.E, classic cars, LC135 show, bike stunts but unfortunately we did not see many (hot) chicks (sigh..).

On the last day during the closing ceremony the certificates of participation were presented to our representative at the main stage by Ketua Pengarah RTM, Datuk Ibrahim Yahaya together with other prize giving. The climax of the day was when Nick & Amat performing 'chopper' doughnut in front of the main stage before the confetti popped out into the air. The best part was, the tiny tars were fired to the audience during the doughnut :D

KBS - FX OPEN ASIA DRIFT CHALLENGE @ MAEPS

On 20th and 21st February 2010 this event has been held at MAEPS, Serdang. Zulfikar was the only available Rattlezasia drifter to participate with his AE86 and managed to get 4th place. However, we did not managed to get fully coverage of his performance since we were not able to make it on the event day. Full results can be viewed here. Rattlezasia @ ACE SUSPENSION DRIFT CHALLENGE (ASDC) Round 1

Good start for 2010 for Rattlezasia. That's all i can describe when one of our members finish 4th in Ace Suspension Drift Challenge (ASDC) which will be revealed later on. This event was held on 2nd and 3rd January 2010. Our driver already practising on 2nd Jan evening till 11p.m. There should be 4 drifters representing Rattlezasia in this event which are Firdaus (Chop), Ejat, Rashid and Zulfikar. But only 3 drifters managed to make themselves participate in this event which left Ejat behind since his Silvia have some medium major problems shall we say. However, we (Rattlezasia crews) only managed to reach at Stadium Hang Jebat on 3rd Jan evening right before Best 16 started. but only Zulfikar and Chop through in the Best 16. Unfortunate for Rashid since he did not make it through to the Best 16 but still he do have a neat, clean, powerfull and well setup Nissan Cefiro A31 with the biggest Rattlezasia stickers attached on the side (on random pictures below). Better luck next time all right mate. We will kill again in next event, BP Mall! Still you make top management proud bro.

In Best 16, Chop was on 16th place. It was a different level of experience for Chop since he will tsuiso with Tan Tat Wei. Chop managed to give a good fight, good handling machine and pressure with his Toyota KE70 Blacktop. However, TTW shows his superior experience to overcome Chop with his mighty Bridgestone Toyota AE86 + NOS. But still, if we look in the bright side, Chop has outbeat a number of drifters who came from all over places where the total drifters participated in this event was almost 50 cars. Chop still in good mood after loosing to TTW by saying "awal tahun dah tsuiso TTW, hujung tahun tsuiso Nomukan plak kot.hahaha..." (in this very early 2010 already tsuiso with TTW, perhaps end of this year will tsuiso against Nomuken. hahaha...). Kudos Chop!

The only remaining drifter that represent Rattlezasia was our ace, Zulfikar, with his MyEG Toyota ae86 powered by SR20DET. In Best 16 battle, Zul was up against a black Celica (damn, cant remember his name). It is a good battle and Zul claim the victory to make himself through to the Fantastic 8.

In the Fantastic 8 battle, Zul was facing Along Rempit with his notorious FX Open Nissan Cefiro A31. It was a dog fight since they got OMT after they got 5-5 on both run in 1st judging round. In 2nd judging round, Zul show what he capable of plus Along Rempit was runing out of course/track and make him through to the Incradible 4.

In the Incradible 4 battle, it was Zul and Ariff to face each other. Ariff with his Goodyear Toyota AE86 Coupe Supercharger looks yummy with his offset watanabe on the front. harrrerr.. In this round, Ariff shown good drifting techniques and make him self through to the Ultimate 2. Zul was spun on the 2nd run due to excessive use of tyres plus it was 14inch rim on rear. Zul said that he did not have enough tyres since on the previous day (training session), he ran a lot till night. At the end of the day, Zul finish 4th in this ASDC 2009: Round 1. Congatulation to Zulfikar and big clap for you bro! In the future, top management of Rattlezasia are hoping that in ASDC: Round 2, there will be more Rattlezasia representer competing. The more we send our drifters, the more chances for us to reach podium. God's Will!

Batu Pahat Drift Demo 02DEC2009

The journey to south begin on 1st Jan 2010 morning. There were 3 cars and 6 persons involved which were Nick, Amat, Ita, Isz Manta, Latif and me. Around 2pm we reach Hentian Jejantas Air Keroh to have our lunch. On our way to Tok house, we stop by at Rashid residential area. At that momment, his Cefiro A31 undergone a grooming session. Old Tein stickers were removed and replaced with huge Rattlezasia stickers. The results of Rashid's A31 were shown in ASDC 2009 topic above. We heading down south again and reach Muar at Tok House located in Tanjung Agas/Kesang Laut (dont know which exact location really), as our base camp, around 3pm. the cozy was just for a while coz we head down to Nizam workshop to give him a visit. After that it just usual stuff with drive through at Pear juice stall.

On the next day (2nd Jan 2010) morning, we assembled in front of Muar police station to be escort to Batu Pahat. After one hour of waiting, only 5 cars gathered. It should be a convoy with another 40 superbikes but they did not turn up. So the police officer decided that there would no need of police escort if the number of convoy is too small. So the jurney to Dataran Batu Pahat began. Since there was no police escort, all drift cars decided to floor the throttle "Rempit Style" on the Federal road (jalan lama) which leaving the only standard car behind.huhu...

The moment we arrived at the dataran, we were shocked due to no preparation on track setup and there were visitors car parked in the drifting area. Furthemore, the space given to do demo drift was small. So we do the track setup ourselves. We did try to make an 'R' layout but its too dangerous for us and the spectators. The only layout that come off were a big donut and figure 8.

The addiction is on for Latif to develop his drifting skills. Dry tarmac just not being kind to his 14 x 8 inch rim with those hipari tyres. So he changed to 13 x 6.5" rim wishing to finish up those old stock tyres. He did bring 6 pieces rims and tyres (total tyres this car has was 10 pieces) hoping that he will burn down at least 4 pieces. But the nature was not agree with what he thinking. The rain pours down to tarmac. The drift demo continues.

As we continue playing in the rain, Rocker and friends arrived. They join us play in the rain alternately. Taking pictures in the rain was interesting since it did looks like the car is drifting on a mirror. Also the car does look like flying.haha..

There is no need to jammed up under an umbrella while enjoy the action, isn't it Lan.

At the end of the day, it was a good event. Thank you Sport and Youth Minister (KBS) who invited us to do this demo. We will be honor to do this again and colaborate with KBS. Latif's tyres also did not burn down totally and he did have lots of thread left. And ofcourse he had to went back to KL with same amount of tyres and lots of lesson learned to develop his skill.

Rattlezasia @ Formula Drift Malaysia 2009 - Road to FD Malaysia

FDM 2009 was dated on 19th and 20th Dec. However, our story begin a bit earlier than that. Our ace drifter, Zulfikar, and his AE86 with some crews arrived in KL on the 17th Dec early in the morning. It is final day to get the car ready before D-day. Late in the same evening, Zul send his car for tuning and few hours later, everything was perfectly done. However, on that night, we received a call from Zul saying that he was encounter a medium-major terbulance during his journey back to Klang. A screw underneath chasis to hold the dog bone to his ae86 exle was missing (err.. i dont know what to call that thing...huhu). Luckily Amat's Ke70 has the same undercariage as fit as AE86. A 1 ton jack and a few bricks the only tools to lift Zul's AE86. To fix the screw underneath his car without proper tools is one matter. Fixing the car at the motorcycle lane is another story. It was on a hiway actually. Scare like hell, scare if any motorist rush to us, specifically, his crew who help us to fix in the screw.

Then the next day (18th Dec) there is no pratice session. So we take this opportunity to attached main sponsor stickers all over Zul's AE86. The main sponsor for him was MyEG (Malaysia E-Government Service). We all get busy do that and get other thing to be ready.

Saturday (19th Dec) is the practice session. It start in the morning. It was hot without sun and wind and track condition was dry. Without warning, the sky heavily drop its tears during qualify session. Luckily no major accident occur. At the end of the day, Zul managed to finish 33rd overall right behind Zee. Just another step to reach Best 32 finalist. Maybe next year, we will send more drifters from Rattlezasia to compete in Formula Drift since we do have cars that properly setup but lack of experience. Kudos and Thanx to Zul for bring Rattlezasia to next level in drift scene.

Djan just edged out his worthy opponent Sak Nana Kiki from Team PTT Thailand in the final tandem battle, while Team Goodyear Malaysia’s ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddet, who wowed the crowd in his Mazda RX-7, came in third. FANS of the sport of drifting in Batu Pahat were recently treated to a spectacular display of skills and techniques at the Batu Pahat Mall Drift Challenge 2009.The two-day competition, now in its fifth year, had about 50 competitors from Johor, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Singapore. The event was organised by the Batu Pahat Mall and Team YH Autosport, a prominent drift team in the district, at the complex's parking lot.

The star of the event was Malaysian professional drifter, Lim Kim Wan, more popularly known as D-Wan, who acted as judge.Kek Beng Hui, the organising committee chairman, said: "D-Wan is one of the best drifters in Malaysia. He is competing in the drifting circuit in China." Kek is a founding member of Team YH Autosport. D-Wan lived up to Kek's praise with his demonstration of his drifting skills. Some lucky visitors also got to ride with him in his car. The event was officiated by Parit Yaani assemblyman, Ng See Tiong,

The sport of drifting was first introduced in Japan about 30 years ago. It started out as a racing technique used in the All Japan Touring Car Championship races.The sport continued to develop and became more popular with motorsport fans in the '80s and '90s. Unlike other types of motorsports, in drifting, the emphasis is on skills and techniques rather than speed. With fans all over the world, drifting now has its own series in places like Japan, the United States and Europe.

In Batu Pahat, there is widespread interest in the sport but enthusiasts are hampered by the lack of space for them to gather and hone their skills. "Whenever we want to practise, we have to go to Malacca or Johor Baru as there isn't a place in Batu Pahat for us to do so. "But Ng has said that he will try to get a place for drift fans to practise in Tongkang Pechah, so hopefully we will soon be able to practise here," said Kek, who was initiated into the sport about four years ago. He said most drifters in the district are self-taught and would exchange tips and advice whenever they gathered. "Once in while, we would have professional drifters like D-Wan present at these gatherings, and they would act as instructors for us to further improve our skills," said Kek.

The sport is also an expensive one. One must be willing to part with at least RM30,000 just to start off.
"For someone to enter the world of drifting, they need a rear-wheel drive car which, depending on the make, will then have to be modified for a more powerful engine and safety purposes. "They would also have to spend a lot on tyres. The sport is hard on the tyres, which usually have to be changed after every race," said Kek. Team YH Autosports, which was established about four years ago with two cars, now has 10 cars under its stewardship.

This Falken sponsered hachi-roku currently undergone some major modification in Ipoh. We will update the latest informations about the hachi-roku after Zul make debut in year 2010. Batu Pahat Mall Drift Challange Oct 2009

9.15am on sunday 18th Oct morning, 'R' media crew (amat, xpitt and wan) began their journey to down south to Batu Pahat for drift competition at BP mall to cover up our team members who is participating on that event. It is a long journey till the driver said his leg became more heavier as time goes by to put the pedal to the metal (lol). We arrived around 12.30pm in the middle of striking sun of sunday. By that time, group practices were held. The crowd is gaining in numbers as the sun have no mercy shooting its 1/70 heat of the hell.

Although everybody were burned and uneased with the condition, 2 photographers on the ground, 9 team crews and all drivers were highly committed at that moment. Our team drifters that represent Rattlezasia were:

Firdaus (chop) - KE70 R.
Rashid - Clean freak drift machine.
Ah Wee - Highly potential and shining drifter.
Zulfikar - Formally known as 'Zul Hachirouku' aka 'Zul Falken'.

All our drifters were participated in expert category.

Zul qulified with 95 marks.

Rashid with 65 qualifying marks.

Firdaus (chop) qualified with 96 marks.

Ah Wee with 60 qualifying marks. But unfortunately, he got some trouble with the machine. Something related to his intercooler piping.

After all points calculated and sorted, only Zul and Chop managed to make way to Best 16. As usual, the format would be tsuiso battle. So here are the battle between Zul vs Ah Soon. It was a tight battle since both using same platform (KE70) and same engine (SR20DET). At the end of the battle, Zul make himself through to Best 8.

In the best 16 battle between chop and Vicky 'da crazy datsun', there was 4 times repeating the battle since judges couldn't make dicision since it was a very tight and breath taking battle. At the end of the battle, the satisfaction was chop's which make him through to the Best 8.

During the best 8 battle, it was Zul vs Sharul (A31). Unfortunately, Zul was left out and couldn't make way to Best 4 but still it was a good battle and the crowd enjoyed it.

In another Best 8 battle, it was chop vs silvia RPS13.... isk forgot edi the competitor name...somebody remind me!!! andy maybe??? This was the most thrilling tsuiso battle of the day since it was neck to neck battle. It was so close like "i-can-kiss-your-door-with-my-fender". Pictures below are the proof. However, Chop also did not managed qualify for Best 4 but still crowd was gone wild with the action produced by both of them. This is what we called entertainment.

45 cars were participated in this competition. In the expert and novice categories, prizes were given untill 8th and 3rd positions respectively. We manage to complete this event untill podium finish. Congratulation to our drifters. Thank you and kudos to Rashid and Ah Wee for your best affort and your showmanship :D. There always next year guys. Cheers! So the podium grabber's from Rattlezasia were:

Firdaus (chop) - 5th place in expert category.
Zulfikar - 6th place in expert category.

Drift, drag, live band, dance, karaoke, extreme games all the street hypes were back at Hang Tuah Mall. This year it was held in 3 days compared to 5 days last year. Although the event period was shortened, it still packed with activities with more than 20 activities!!

We arrived around 5pm... truly amateur in autosalon field heheheh....

Hahaha our very first time.....though we are not into it, but why not give it a try... 3 cars from Rattlezasia supposed to participate in 2 categories, open and extreme modified car. However at last minute we decided to send only 1 car to participate for open modified category..... Ngeeee...just to get the exposure and experience...

Muar Charity Drift in Aid of Palestine - THANK YOU!!!

This event was held in Muar from 30th January to 1st February with one noble mission to raise funds for our bros n sis in Palestine. Muar Charity Drift together with fishing contest organized by Joran Bagus was getting very good response. On behalf of the organizing members, we would like to thank each and everyone who had contributed for this charity event.

1 Event organizer commitee, Majlis Belia & Sukan Muar especially Mr. Glenn Abdullah & Rattlezasia team.

2.Majlis Perbandaran Muar, YDP MUAR, Ibu Pejabat Trafik Daerah Muar, National Fitness Council and Muar district statutory bodies.

3. RMS / Root Mean Square Events as our manager and window to media. The event was promoted in various websites & media i.e. Xfresh FM, Hot Fm, NSTP, Berita Harian, Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo & Sinar Harian. Fully covered by http://malaysianmotorsportstv.blogspot.com/
